Niger State House of Assembly
About
The Niger State House of Assembly is the legislative arm of the government of Niger State in Nigeria. It is a unicameral legislature with 27 members elected from the state's 25 local government areas, with larger local government areas divided into two constituencies to give equal representation. The Assembly's main functions are to enact new laws, amend or repeal existing laws, and oversee the executive. Members are elected for four-year terms, concurrent with federal legislators. The Assembly sits in plenary three times a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) at its complex in Minna, the state capital, while committee and oversight work is scheduled by the members.
