Ikwerre
About
Ikwerre is a Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Isiokpo, described as the ancient Kingdom of Ikwerre land. The Ikwerre group occupies the upland region of Rivers State, and the area shares boundaries with Imo State to the north, Emohua to the west, Etche to the east, and Obio-Akpor to the south.
History
Ikwerre was the first local government created for the Ikwerre people. Later, the Emohua, Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt local government areas were created.
