About
Ahoada West is a Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, located northwest of Port Harcourt. Its seat is in the town of Akinima. The area is home to Ekpeye-speaking communities, mostly from the Ubie and Ibuduya clans, as well as Engenni and Ogbogolo communities, giving three distinct languages: Ekpeye, Engenni and Ogbogolo. The Local Government Area lies in the South South Region of Nigeria and has a rich cultural heritage. The Orashi River, at the lower basin of the Niger River, runs through the area, and the land is mainly high dense rain forest. Residents mainly work in farming, fishing and hunting.
