History

Atisbo was named by K.A Adesiyan and later recognised as a Local Government Area in Okeogun, Oyo State. It was created by former Head of State Sanni Abacha in 1996, and was carved out of the now defunct Ifedapo Local Government, which had its headquarters in Saki Town. Since December 1996 the area has been led by a succession of sole administrators, executive chairmen, interim and transitional committee chairmen, caretaker and acting chairmen, with Fasasi Adeagbo serving as chairman from April 2021 to December 2023 and Hon. Alhaji Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade listed as the current chairman.
