Ibeju-Lekki
About
Ibeju-Lekki is a local government area of Lagos State, Nigeria. Its administrative centre was formerly at Akodo and was later moved to Igando Oloja after the creation of the Lekki Council Development Area. The area is home to people from many parts of the country who live, work and do business there, and it has potential for tourism because of its ocean front and lagoon views. The area is developing rapidly and is often described as the new Lagos, with the commercial centre of Lagos State gradually shifting towards it. Ibeju-Lekki is one of the local government areas for the planned Lekki City and is expected to become a central hub for business, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Major projects include the Dangote Refinery, the Lekki International Airport project, the Pan-Atlantic University, the Lekki Deep Seaport and the Lekki International Golf Course.
History
The name of the local government was derived from two autonomous communities, Ibeju and Lekki. Its administrative centre was formerly at Akodo and was later moved to Igando Oloja due to the creation of the Lekki Council Development Area.
