The article describes historical landmarks in the area rather than the formation of the local government itself. The gate Kofar Nasarawa was built by Muhammadu Rumfa when he expanded the city of Kano, after an earlier gate with a similar name was built by Gijimasu. Emir Abdullahi dan Dabo later renamed the gate Kofar Nasarawa in 1866, and it has been renovated twice, most recently in 2015.
