History
Chikun Local Government Area takes its name from a Gbagyi village called Chikun in the southeastern part of Kujama. The area was originally settled by the Gbagyi people but is increasingly being absorbed by urbanisation, making it a cosmopolitan part of Kaduna. On 5 July 2021, more than 100 secondary school pupils from Bethel Baptist Secondary School in Chikun were kidnapped.
