About

Kuje is a city and local government area in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, consisting of one district and nine electoral wards. It is a busy market city known for roadside stores, independent petrol stations, and its correctional facility, Kuje Prison.

History

Kuje is seeing rapid expansion in residential building because of its proximity to Abuja and the removal of informal settlements along the airport road. A network of tarred roads serves areas of as yet unbuilt housing, while existing residential areas are linked by often impassable dirt roads.
