Owan East

About

Owan East is a Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, with its headquarters in the town of Afuze. It comprises 69 towns and villages made up of eight clans, including Emai, Igue, Ake-Ievbu, Ihievbe, Ikao, Ivbi-Mion, Ive-Ada-Obi, Otuo and Uokha. The area is bordered by Akoko-Edo, Etsako-West, Owan-West, Esan Central and Uhunmwonde LGAs, and by Ondo State to the west. The local government hosts several educational institutions, including the Federal University of Sports in Afuze and the Afuze campus of Edo State College of Education, which includes a School of Physical and Health Education and a Special Needs Education campus.
