Yenagoa

Yenagoa is a Local Government Area and the capital city of Bayelsa State in Southern Nigeria. It is located in the Niger Delta region of the country. The Ijaws form the majority of the Local Government Area, and English is the official language. The area covers 706 km2 and had an estimated population of 798,466 in 2024. Yenagoa is home to Bayelsa International Airport, which received its first aircraft arrival on February 14, 2019, and to the football clubs Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens.
