Ayamelum
About
Ayamelum is a local government area (LGA) in Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria, with its headquarters in Anaku. It lies on the border between Enugu State and Anambra State and falls under the Anambra Central senatorial district. The area is known for food production, particularly rice, and its communities depend heavily on agriculture.
History
Ayamelum has a long history of land disputes between communities such as Omor and Anaku, which have at times led to violence, and a boundary dispute between Omor and Umumbo has also caused conflict. To address these disputes, the government set up the Ayamelum Boundary Adjustment and Peace Committee to restore peace and encourage co-existence.
