Nigerian Export - Import Bank

About

The Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) is an export credit agency in Nigeria. It focuses on developing and expanding the non-oil sectors of the Nigerian economy, with the aim of reducing the country's heavy reliance on oil exports. Its mission is to increase the rate of export of non-oil products for small, medium and large enterprises across all sectors of the economy. It does this by providing funds, risk-bearing programmes and advisory services in line with government trade policy. Its core functions include export credit guarantees and insurance, local-currency credit to exporters, a foreign exchange revolving fund for importing inputs needed for export production, and a trade information system. Its headquarters are at NEXIM House in the Central Business District, Garki, Abuja.

History

NEXIM was established in 1991 as a joint venture between the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), with an initial capital of NGN 50,000,000,000. The bank is jointly owned by the CBN and MOFI on a 50/50 basis.
