About
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is an agency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that operates as an independent customs service under the supervisory oversight of the Nigerian Ministry of Finance. It is responsible for the collection of customs revenue, facilitation of national and international trade, and anti-smuggling and border security activities. Its headquarters are in Maitama, Abuja. The service is headed by the Comptroller General, who oversees nine Deputy Comptrollers-General across departments including Finance and Technical Services, Tariff and Trade, ICT and Modernization, Legal, Training and Doctrine Command, Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Strategic Research and Policy, Excise, Industrial Incentives and Free Trade Zone, and Human Resource Development. Its board, chaired by the Minister of Finance, is the policy-making organ of the service and administers the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023. The service also operates the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network.
